ChainYourMac is built to run entirely on your Mac. This page explains, plainly, what data the app and this website handle — and what they don't.

The app

ChainYourMac contains no analytics, no telemetry, and no tracking. It does not read the contents of your windows or your screen, and it does not send your files, keystrokes, or browsing anywhere. The Accessibility permission it requests is used only to move and resize windows, locally.

Your configuration (window rules, shortcuts, preferences) is stored in a local file on your Mac and never leaves it.

License activation

When you activate a paid license, the app sends the following to our license server and to Gumroad (our payment provider) to verify the purchase:

• your license key;
• an anonymous machine identifier (a one-way hash derived from your Mac's hardware UUID — it does not reveal your name, files, or anything about how you use your Mac);
• the product identifier.

The server stores an activation record (a hashed copy of the key, the machine identifier, and the email address associated with your Gumroad purchase) so your license works across restarts and can be moved between Macs. About once a day the app re-checks the license with Gumroad in the background; this sends the license key and nothing else.

Purchases

Payments are processed entirely by Gumroad. We never see or store your card details. Gumroad shares with us the email address and purchase details needed to deliver your license — see Gumroad's privacy policy.

This website

chainyourmac.com uses PostHog for basic, privacy-respecting analytics: page views, referrers, and anonymous usage of the site. We configure it without person profiles and without session recording. No advertising trackers, no data sales, ever.
